VisoTech at EUROFORUM intraday power trading conference

The EUROFORUM intraday power trading conference takes place in Frankfurt on 7th and 8th December 2017. As the provider of Europe’s leading software solution for fully automated power spot trading we were invited to give a talk on the topic of algotrading.

Johannes Püller, head of product development, will talk about “Digitalisation in intraday trading – from assistants to algotraders to fully automated solutions” on the second day of the conference at 9:50am and will take part in the panel discussion which begins at 11:50am.

TIWAG is digitalising power spot trading with VisoTech

With TIWAG-Tiroler Wasserkraft AG another prominent energy company has now digitalised its power spot trading. This has been achieved using the proven Periotheus autoTRADER software solution from VisoTech. The software, well-established and popular on the market, will support TIWAG in marketing their power station and generation portfolio in an efficient and flexible way.

Opinion piece on demand side managament

Energate messenger has published an opinion piece by Johannes Püller in which he makes the case that energy providers are increasingly using the potential of demand side manager and will have to develop new business models from this.

Artificial intelligence increases company revenues

VisoTech recognised the importance of automation in the energy industry at an early stage and is also doing research in the field of artificial intelligence, as Wolfgang Eichberger demonstrated during the User Forum.

In cooperation with the market research institute Frontier Economics, Accenture recently presented a study on “How AI boosts industry profits and innovation” which shows the enormous potential in the automation and use of artificial intelligence.

GitHub: Python growing in popularity

Development of Periotheus is based on the Python programming language. This decision was made taking into account factors like performance and future security. Recent studies show that Python is still growing in popularity among software developers.

User Forum 2017

With more than 50 representatives from 26 companies and eight countries, this year’s User Form was very well attended and extremely international. We are pleased that so many guests accepted our invitation and used the opportunity to find out more about VisoTech, exchange ideas and make new contacts.

Amongst some of the highlights were the talks from Holger Späk and Wolfgang Eichberger:

Holger Späk, project engineer at STEAG, one of the largest power producers in Germany, provided some firsthand insights. He reported on the experiences which the energy giant has gathered since introducing VisoTech’s solution and how they managed to completely automate their power spot trading.

Wolfgang Eichberger, head of the research department at VisoTech, gave the attendees an impression of how the use of artificial intelligence could revolutionise the energy industry in the near future.

These and other topics were discussed further by guests at the subsequent Come Together Party in Möbeldepot. We would like to use this opportunity to thank all participants.
