Vienna, 24th October 2017 – With TIWAG-Tiroler Wasserkraft AG another prominent energy company has now digitalised its power spot trading. This has been achieved using the proven Periotheus autoTRADER software solution from VisoTech. The software, well-established and popular on the market, will support TIWAG in marketing their power station and generation portfolio in an efficient and flexible way.
Short-term power trading is increasingly gaining in importance. One significant reason for this is the growing amount of renewable energy, which is characterised above all by its volatile nature. As a result of the unpredictable and weather related influences on power generation, as well as power consumption, from renewable energies, power supply companies must not only use their storage capabilities efficiently, but also trade a notable part of their power at short notice. VisoTech’s Periotheus autoTRADER offers the ability to automate this trading process. “By using VisoTech’s autoTRADER we can market our generation and power station portfolio around the clock even more easily, quickly and efficiently than before and thus make an important contribution to the energy revolution”, says Markus Watscher, Head of Dispatching at TIWAG.
“Energy companies are presented with the challenge of having to make decisions about the efficient use of wind, solar and hydroelectric power increasingly quickly and in an increasingly short time frame. This can only be achieved through the systematic digitalisation of processes related to the energy industry. TIWAG has decided to choose the market leader in fully-automated intraday power trading and can thus optimally sell their power, despite the high volatility on the markets”, explains Jürgen Mayerhofer, Managing Director of VisoTech.
Powerful and flexible
VisoTech’s Periotheus autoTRADER is Europe’s leading software solution for fully-automated short-term power trading. From managing trading and visualising it, right up to developer tools, the system leaves nothing to be desired, even for demanding users. In addition to TIWAG, other companies in the sector, such as Verbund, Steag and Iberdrola, rely on VisoTech’s solution.
