Newsletter November 2019: presenting Trayport VisoTech, Eneco gets flexible, integration project and more

New name, same trusted team

teaser-t-newsletter-11-2019Since our acquisition by Trayport in May, we have integrated the two companies and are operating as one. Now the Vienna company has officially been renamed: we now operate as Trayport VisoTech GmbH. Please be sure to update our name in your contacts (our address and all other information remains the same)!

The new name identifies us clearly as a part of the Trayport family, one of the most well-known brands in European energy trading. Yet we are for the most part the same VisoTech that energy companies have trusted for many years. Together with our London teammates, we will continue to deliver innovative solutions to help you make the most of your trading.

Flexible Trading Automation at Eneco

Leading Dutch renewables provider Eneco wanted an algo-trading solution for short-term power and gas markets, with the flexibility to develop their own trading strategies. Head of Asset-Backed Trading Charel Hakkert shared his experiences with us. Find out what drove the decision and how the autoTRADER increased efficiency and profit.

Interview in Energate Messenger

In a conversation with VisoTech Managing Director Jürgen Mayerhofer, Energate’s Heiko Lohmann discussed the advantages of autoTRADER integration into Trayport’s Joule trading screen, the further expansion of algo-trading and the corporate culture needed to succeed in a competitive market.

Integration: the best of both worlds

An acquisition is a huge project; it doesn’t just happen overnight. What is it like when your company is acquired? In the next few months we’ll shed some light on the process.

We start with Conny Habetler, our Head of Corporate Functions, who as Integration Manager is responsible to ensure that the process runs smoothly. She gave us an overview of the scope of the project.

“The integration touches every department and almost every business process. But that doesn’t mean that suddenly the Vienna office is forced to adopt everything from London! Rather, each department evaluates its processes and determines the best way to proceed. Both offices have found that they can learn from each other, to get the best of both worlds. In some cases it makes more sense for teams in each office to maintain their respective methodologies.”

This involves a lot of collaboration, and the value of face-to-face contact is understood. People from all departments in both offices visit their remote colleagues to work together and to get to know each other better.

In her role as department head, Conny is directly involved with a variety of integration tasks. Financial reporting and procurement processes must be aligned, with both offices using the same tools and templates. Human resources processes are also being integrated, and both offices have had to get a better understanding of the sometimes surprising differences in labour laws and benefits.

“Being part of a larger company gives us access to better tools, allowing us to operate more efficiently,” Conny added. “For instance, our customers can look forward to a more streamlined, automated invoicing process. Integration is a lot of work but will definitely be worth the effort.”

Stay tuned to find out how integration impacts other departments.

The autoTRADER community grows

We are pleased to welcome two new customers to the autoTRADER family. DVV – Duisburger Versorgungs- und Verkehrsgesellschaft, who operates the public utility for the German city of Duisburg with over 500,000 inhabitants, will use our solution to trade power. Meanwhile Dresden-based energy provider ENSO has selected the autoTRADER for trading of natural gas.

We’re still growing

We extend a warm welcome to the latest new VisoMinds, Software Engineer Manuel Danner and his Dalmatian Emil. Manuel will support the continued development of our software solutions, while Emil is responsible for morale and stress relief.
