Preparations for the second Algo-Trading Innovation Hub are in full gear. The programme is complete, and reservations are coming in from major energy companies across Europe. With this in mind, Wolfgang Eichberger took a look back at last year’s event:
5 questions on energy algo-trading that keep you awake at night
As the number of energy companies taking advantage of algo-trading grows, success on the market is no longer simply a matter of having just any trading automation. You need a sophisticated algo-trading solution incorporating the latest developments that allows you to stay ahead in the rapidly changing world of energy trading. You’ve probably asked yourself the following questions:
- How mature are today’s energy algo-trading solutions?
- What additional data can make your trading algorithms more powerful?
- Which technologies enable faster trading – and why should you care?
- How does algo-trading have value beyond short-term markets?
- Why are top energy companies selecting trading solutions specifically designed for automated trading?
If you are dealing with these and similar questions, join us June 5-6 in Frankfurt for the Algo-Trading Innovation Hub. Industry experts will discuss trends in algorithmic energy trading, and energy companies will share their own experiences. With a generous amount of time allotted for networking, you’ll have the chance to meet with energy trading industry peers in an open, relaxed atmosphere.
On day 2, in a hands-on workshop you will have a chance to dig into the inner workings of trading algorithms and to write your own. Book now, seats are limited and are going fast!
2019: the year of the partner
This year is shaping up to be the year of partnerships for VisoTech. First came our groundbreaking technology partnership with Energy Weather to integrate weather analogy models into trading algorithms; and then we entered a new partnership with PSI Energy Markets to integrate the autoTRADER into their PSImarkets platform.
On April 11, twenty visitors from eleven companies joined us in Vienna for the first-ever VisoTech Partner Academy. From resellers to system integrators and technology partners, everyone got an insight into VisoTech and our products and services, as well as the opportunity to connect with other partners and get to know new perspectives. Stay tuned for further announcements.
Customers share their experiences
When our long-time customer Salzburg AG decided to automate scheduling and intraday trading, they turned to us. How does the new solution work? What benefits has Salzburg AG realised? Find the answers to these questions and all details of this project in the case study of Salzburg AG.
Meanwhile Stadtwerke München, one of Germany’s largest municipal utilities, has expanded the use of the Periotheus autoTRADER to the UK power market. Read the full story and find out what Stadtwerke München expects to gain from this new market.
VisoMinds never stop learning
“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.”
In an ongoing series we are taking a look at VisoMinds who are actively continuing their education. This time we check in with VisoTech’s Head of Corporate Functions, Cornelia “Conny” Habetler. She is currently in the last semester of the master’s programme “Business Process Engineering & Management” at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. With a combined technical and business focus, the programme is ideal for a manager in a technology company.
Most of the participants in the part-time programme also have full-time jobs in a wide range of companies and roles. This leads to a very practical exchange of experiences and ideas among the students, something she greatly appreciates.
She is able to use practical examples from VisoTech in her coursework, and then uses what she’s learned to help the complete management team develop leaner business processes. In essence, with her studies the company is gaining an in-house consultant for business process improvement. As Conny observed, “VisoTech is currently working to make business processes more efficient, more structured and more scalable, so my studies are truly helping me to make a difference.”
We’re happy to welcome several more new customers to the Periotheus user community. EVN, one of Austria’s biggest energy providers with a strong presence in Germany and Eastern Europe, has purchased the autoTRADER, as has one of Sweden’s largest energy trading companies, Modity. And Mark‑E, an energy provider in western Germany with a strategic focus on renewable energy, has also selected the autoTRADER. Welcome to the family!
And if you don’t (yet) know the answers to the questions above, that’s a good thing. “The future belongs to the curious: the ones who are not afraid to try it, poke at it, question it, and turn it inside out.” Our customers and partners are bright and curious. Thank you for asking the tough questions. We look forward to many more years of finding the answers together.
